Carrot Cake Coworking

There’s no better way to start a Tuesday than by eating homemade carrot cake at 10:53 in the morning. It’s like salad, in dessert form, at breakfast time, while working...what could be better?

With holiday foods in the kitchen and a newly bedazzled pine tree in the entryway, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the Switchboard. And, as thick, carroty, cream cheese goodness slowly derails all 2017 fitness goals, we look expectantly towards the new year. A year full of new personal goals, popular health foods (see ya, chia seed), business strategies, and market trends.

Though the changes brought by a new year are often daunting for new businesses, we have some good news. As discovered by The Global Coworking Unconference Conference, coworking isn’t going anywhere in 2018. In fact, it’s only gaining popularity. Sound interesting? Check out a few highlights from the 2018 Coworking Megatrends as discussed by GCUC:

Demand

  • 15% of the SP 500 have already entered the coworking world (including Facebook, IBM, HSB, and Cisco).

  • Over 50% of the population will be working independently by 2020. Need for independent work space will continue to increase.

  • According to a Coworking forecast done by GCUC and Emergent Research, there are approximately 14,400 coworking spaces in the world today - including some in Siberia and Mongolia.

Health

  • As with every new year, 2018 will bring an increased focus on overall mental health and wellbeing - including attempts to decrease loneliness at work.
  • “At work, loneliness reduces task performance, limits creativity and impairs other aspects of executive function such as reasoning and decision making. For our health and our work, it is imperative that we address the loneliness epidemic quickly.” – Vivek H Murthy

  • Offering the connection and community that entrepreneurs, small businesses, and corporate workers need, coworking is a clear solution.

This list could go on - it is clear to see that coworking isn’t just a fleeting trend of 2017. It is a rapidly popularizing and thriving industry full of connected and creative individuals. It’s a global community that you need to join, and there’s no better place than the Switchboard. Let’s make 2018 a little greater together.

Here’s to health, community, coworking, carrot cake, and you. Happy Holidays!
